In "Visit to the Plastic Surgeon" by Remedios Varo, a mystical figure is depicted approaching an arched doorway of a surreal surgical clinic, emphasizing themes of transformation and identity. Varo's incorporation of fantastical and dreamlike elements reflects her influence from Surrealism and evokes a sense of metaphysical exploration.

The American Library Association strongly denounces new federal book banning legislation proposed in Congress. Call your Reps. Tell them to oppose H.R. 7661. Capitol switchboard: 202-224-3121 American Library Association, Show Up For Our Libraries
"Parents, not politicians, should guide their childrenβs reading. In our school, campus, and public libraries, materials are selected by trained literacy professionals who understand child development and community needs. Their work is grounded in one clear purpose: helping young people become lifelong readers. H.R. 7661 isnβt fundamentally about protecting kids. Itβs about giving politicians broad authority to restrict whose stories are allowed on the shelves. That should concern anyone who believes in the freedom to read and the right of families to make decisions for themselves.β - ALA President Sam Helmick
"Rather than targeting librarians and teachers, Congress should invest in them. The Right to Read Act offers a better path, supporting well-staffed and well-resourced school libraries, strengthening evidence-based literacy instruction, and protecting the dedicated professionals who help young people discover books that open doors and expand horizons. When we trust families, support educators, and protect the freedom to read, our young people thrive.β - ALA President Sam Helmick.

Every Member of Congress needs to understand that the upcoming War Powers Resolution vote will be a defining vote β just like the Iraq War vote that defined a generation of politicians.
But our elected officials wonβt understand how significant the vote is unless they hear and feel the outrage now.
Where are the adults? Who is writing the script for our dangerously ridiculous reality? It's poorly poorly written! (Not you, Heather. You're brilliantly relaying it!)

The acts of defiance can be big or small. Painting over a bigoted piece of graffiti. Running a youth club for refugees in an area that mostly loathes them. Wearing a rainbow flag in an anti-queer neighbourhood.
These acts all accumulate towards something better, I have seen that in action.
This is a devastating story. I donβt understand why there are still people who think this has potential for βpartnershipβ in schools. Itβs like saying cocaine should be adopted for optimizing learning, or leeches are partners for medical practice.
