How good was Chris Wilder? Ahead of the 'Chris Wilder' derby, we discuss how much regard our former manager should be held in. Listener Rob was a total fan, but did his hot take convince Dan and Matt? #oufc

Don’t think we can underestimate the importance of those 3 points. We’re edging close to safety and the boys are giving it everything (even if the quality is often lacking).

Think with the Derby result, Luton winning is good.

Fair play to Pompey - I think it’s great for the League that the one team in the relegation battle that stuck with their manager look like staying up comfortably.

I can see why comparisons might be made with Des but I still think Rowett was the right call.

Absolutely - didn’t mean to come across dismissive (if you think I did), you’re totally right.

I’d love to be able to go into the last 3/4 games knowing we’re safe.

Win on Wednesday and it would take a catastrophic run in for us to go down.

Loved the Beach Road chat but was amazed that the smell of deep heat didn’t come up.

I was sure that’s what’s Matt was going to say when he went down the smells discussion route.

Episode 4 out now. We discuss important matters like kicking balls over a fence and dogging. Oh ... and OUFC's lack of attacking threat. #oufc youtu.be/JCUZiuzE7Go

Not sure you can give Pompey that much credit for their clean sheet. We missed some huge chances and they were very naive with the amount of space they left in the last 10 minutes.

You can see why they play well but consistently lose away if they sit up in the Championship like that ever week.

Let’s keep positive and back the boys at the Hawthorns on Saturday, I can’t wait!

But Rowett has consistently master minded low margin games where we are in with a shot of picking up points. It doesn’t look great when we lose but compared to what went before I think he deserves huge credit for this. I have (nearly) no doubt it’ll see us to safety.

16.02.2025 19:40 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I’m not having the β€œapproach” as the excuse for this week. There were plenty of chances in both games for attacking players to show us their worth and they didn’t do it.

Rowatt can take some criticism for his team selection though, Harris in particular should not have started yesterday.

Phillips may have missed the header but he put himself about a bit and for me, is ahead of Harris for no. 9 now. Romney ahead of both.

Mills has to start if he’s fit enough, I can see that that might not be the case after a year out.

Last word on the weekend, hopefully yesterday was a moment of a slight changing of the guard.

In my eyes, Harris, Dembele and Ruben have a lot to do in any sub appearances to get back into the starting 11.

16.02.2025 19:35 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Good to hear, really enjoyed watching him in League One.

I wouldn’t be saying any of these nice things if we had 10 fewer points of course!

Unfortunately not, I had already seriously eaten into my childcare credits by the late finish so scarpered when you scored.

I’m so pleased he’s found his love for football again after a tough couple of years.

How is Atkinson getting on?

16.02.2025 15:30 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Do a post on the resurgence of the big no. 9 please! The overachieving teams in the Prem are full of them.

Maybe we’ll even sign one in the summer….

16.02.2025 14:59 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Yeah, I think we’ll both be fine, especially given how slowly the teams at the bottom are picking up points.

Look after Murph, his applause for Joey cemented my love for Josh. Gutted that he’s not in a yellow shirt any more.

16.02.2025 14:58 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Kind to a few of them!

We’re still in an incredibly strong position and there are points available in those games.

We have a 9 points gap, with 13 games to go and the teams chasing us have been going at less than a point a game all season.

We’d have given anything for this in August.

It’s been a bad week though

15.02.2025 23:05 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I defended him last autumn (thought the work ethic and pressing was worth the drought) and was really pleased to see him come good at the back end of last season.

Can’t back him anymore

15.02.2025 23:01 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I’d replace decent with excellent. If we could consistently put in the performances of January then we’d be nowhere near relegation, that was always unlikely.

A 9 point gap with 13/14 games to go is a lot at the bottom.

15.02.2025 18:53 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Feels remarkable Harris played today, he’s clearly miles off it mentally and needs a break. At the very least you expect a good attitude and effort, and he gave neither and looked miserable up top.

15.02.2025 18:51 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Fair play to the Pompey fans who quickly figured out what was happening and joined in with us.

15.02.2025 16:18 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I think Rowatt needs to take some responsibility here. That team selection in the forward area was dreadful given what we saw on Tuesday and what we saw in the last 20 mins.
