It is right, but also concerning, that essentially the NATO SecGen is openly standing firm *against* a NATO member state.

Also another reminder that <10 people in Washington - all of whom are Republicans & all of whom keep getting total daily free passes from the media about their cowardice - could end most of the madness tomorrow by simply caucusing with the Democrats & giving them control of both the House & Senate.

Four GOP Senators.

At most four Repubs in the House.

Together they could stop nearly all the mad-king's rampages. They would be known to history as Profiles in Courage. They might/would lose the next election. But people have sacrificed a lot more, for a lot less.

John Curtis and Susan Collins could do so much right now. The four of them could tip the balance of power and change the course of history. They could shut everything down until Trump backs off of NATO allies.

Why won’t they do that?

Murkowski and Thillis might be relative voices of reason on transatlantic relations, but neither has defected. They do not have to do this; they don’t have to stay in the party. And if they can convince just two colleagues to join them, they can put a stop to almost all of this.

The European right’s idea that might is everything and that it must grovel at the foot of American power to be mighty has always been ass-backwards. It is just unfortunate that it could be too late.

As a reminder, the Supreme Court will rule soon on whether or not Trump’s unilateral imposition of tariffs is legal. And Congress could already being working to assert that they are not or to amend the law he uses to impose them.

NATO is hanging by a thread because of choices politicians are making

I cannot accept the idea that people are willing to pay 25% more for European goods and possibly send their children to die in the Arctic over a piece of land they cannot point out on a map and know nothing about. Surely something must give?

What will it take for Americans to occupy the streets & shut this down? War on peaceful citizen observers, war on the Fed, war on Venezuela, war on Iran (although solidarity of course to the people of Iran), and now an economic war - and real threat of militarized war - on Europe. WHO wants this?
