I love GNX dearly too but I sense that the committee would be hesitant after he swept the singles categories last year w/ Not Like Us. The cultural impact imo came more from that song than GNX itself. But he also has been snubbed as many times as Gaga has so I wouldn’t remotely be upset if he won!

I think chart performance could be like a booster category if the committee is torn between two well matched artists, but I don’t think chart performance should really matter at all. Though I know it can be hard to measure cultural impact without that consideration.

One of my biggest issues w the GRAMMYs is that it’s SO biased and there are no clear parameters for what defines the awards. In my head there should be point based categories, something like:
vocal performance, sonic performance, cultural impact, storytelling/lyrics, & if applicable, visuals/tour

the way that this album basically brought her back from the dead, revived the fandom community, and touched SO MANY lives at a time where queer and non-conforming people were under attack and everyone felt hopeless. That’s a cultural impact impossible to deny

I fear Bad Bunny is going to get that AOTY and he totally deserves it...but I just really really want Gaga to get her flowers. This is arguably the most cohesive album in her career, she had a single that brought SO many people together through the spirit of magic, & the tour is a global phenomenon
