Australia has ministers for seniors and youth. So why not a minister for children? Responsibility for children is scattered across portfolios, including social services, education, health and Indigenous affairs.

Australia needs a dedicated Federal Minister for Children. There is currently no single minister tasked with coordinating efforts, listening to children, or ensuring accountability for outcomes.

This must change.

The major parties have announced their plans to address domestic and family violence. How do they stack up? After an election campaign largely silent on women’s safety issues, the major parties have unveiled their policies. They fall well short of what is needed.

Australia had a national reckoning over domestic violence, but where’s the focus this election? Domestic and family violence hasn’t been a major election issue. While the major parties are starting to talk about it, it’s not enough.

Violence against women was declared a national crisis in Australia in 2024. So why has it been barely mentioned this federal election?

Dr Hayley Boxall & I examine what’s missing & what is needed from our political leaders.

For a 'fair go' country we sure do make children fight for their safety This is a national crisis. But no one wants to talk about it.

Victorian Parliament has released its final report from the Inquiry into capturing data on people using family violence in Victoria.

Without better data, we cannot design the interventions & systems needed to stop the use of violence.

While this Federal Budget offers some welcome initiatives, it falls short of delivering the comprehensive whole of spectrum funding that is needed from prevention to early intervention, response and through to recovery & healing.

We need to invest in supporting recovery & healing for children impacted by domestic, family & sexual violence.
