Hope the border stops the storm from coming over! This is when a wall would be good ;-)

Mad Magazine spoofed obsolescence. As a kid I thought it was hilarious, as an adult, not so much :-(

One of the best of all time.

β€œYou’re not stuck in traffic. You ARE traffic.”

Wish we had come up with that one. #UrbanTruth

We need more of these around! Brilliant!

We totally need more. And we have to stop cars from using them as their highway. But let's start with more bus lanes :-)

We could post something smart and important about artificially low municipal taxes, austerity budgets, and the economic self-destruction of too many cities β€” or we could just recommend that you READ AND SHARE this really important THREAD below. #UrbanTruth

Plants that grow in the cracks of sidewalks give me hope! And yay to the person who values them. What can we say about spaces that can't even provide a little dusty corner to house a plant.

Sadly, it needs to be in dollars and cents, even though what i see are all the trees chopped down to widen another highway.

Went on a guided walk on the St George Rainway in Vancouver. Really wonderful the green infrastructure that the city has added increasing our green space, biodiversity and helping manage our rain water runoff. Thanks @thuringch.bsky.social and GRIN and City of Vancouver folks for hosting.

The planet is not made for endless growth. So many other better factors to measure how well people and nature are thriving.

Global economy must move past GDP to avoid planetary disaster, warns UN chief Exclusive: AntΓ³nio Guterres says world’s accounting systems should place true value on the environment

150+ countries admit what we already know: endless GDP growth and sustainable biodiversity cannot coexist.

GDP growth = more extraction, more land use, more pollution.

Death by GDP is a choice. We need a Wellbeing Economy!

We are already distracted, the last thing we need is an attention magnet like a gigantic touch screen. Don't we all naturally veer toward screens :-(

We definitely need more renewables. Hopefully the cost of oil rising motivates more of us to get off of oil.

You are so right. Im in Vancouver, close to Knight street. There are huge trucks on this road that drive super fast. It gives me visions of being flattened on the road. I avoid at all costs crossing this street!

As a pedestrian, very scary to see the big SUVs up close. Watching them in crash tests even more scary, especially as they roll over sedans and crash test dummies. Definitely time for more pedestrian and environment friendly cities!! Long live pedestrians :-)

I got sucked in to watching the video about SUVs. The big car arms race is a little frightening. Watching how vulnerable pedestrians and sedan drivers are with big SUVs is scary. How do we turn this around???
