Being food secure goes beyond calories – it’s also about resilience and nutrition. Pasture-fed livestock can play a key role in ensuring the UK has both.

👉 By up-cycling grass and crop by-products humans can’t eat, grazing livestock reduce our reliance on imported soya and grains, strengthen local food systems, and help secure a homegrown supply of essential nutrients.

🐑 Cows and sheep can transform this land into nutrient-rich food: milk, cheese and meat packed with protein, vitamin B12, iron, zinc and omega-3s.

Around 65% of our farmland is grassland – much of it unsuitable for crops but perfectly suited for grazing animals.

Nearly half of the UK’s food is imported – leaving us exposed to global shocks and supply chain disruptions.
