Teddy Ruxpin??? What HAPPENED?!!!
21.11.2025 05:06 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We lived in a building that, during the single year we were there, had more than 40 fire alarm incidents. I think maybe 2 of those actually had any concern to them. Didn't matter... we hauled ourselves, the cat in her carrier, the dog on a leash, down the EIGHT flights of stairs every time. π«
21.11.2025 01:15 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Congratulations on your surviva-versary!
I am very glad you're still around, loving on critters and stringing words together. π
This man clearly doesn't understand how much swelling is averted by wearing comfortable clothing for flight.
Also, I am NOT paying first class airfare pricing in this economy. Get real.
But did the sandwich have mustard AND onions? π
20.11.2025 21:24 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I love that you will be cosplaying bougie spite for an awesome Lego set. Rock on. π
20.11.2025 19:39 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm not out yet, but the reasons to never come back just keep piling up!
20.11.2025 19:35 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0*raises hand* I mean, just because I have cravings doesn't mean I eat where I hang out, though! π

Sorry, just... It's the bloody seashells from Fahrenheit 451 all over again.*shudder*
Thank you.
I did have a brief moment but then thought, "nope, Brit, also, that would be a *weird* thing for his estate to do" (though sadly not out of keeping for U.S. capitalism).
Yes. Though, please, just as a USB hand out for those that have the stomach. I don't think I'd ask anyone to read that disturbing shite aloud.
20.11.2025 16:13 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Reads like something out of Bridget Jones' Diary. π€£
20.11.2025 16:09 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Would love to hear this read by Judy Dench or Tilda Swinton's cuttingly dry delivery. π
20.11.2025 16:04 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Random internet stranger admiration over here. This whole little dive made my day, and I'm not even out of bed, yet (Pacific Time)!
I've done similar things in the past & it's always charming to run into a fellow info-tracker. π
I've been finding new ways to avoid genAI since it started oozing its noxious way into anything it can. Be able to just opt out across the board?! Where's the button, I need it!
20.11.2025 15:30 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Healthy is just a dog whistle for privileged these days.
Live near a superfund site bc generational inequality & oppression & therefore have expensive to treat medical conditions due to exposure? Oh, you should just move...
There are a million ways to be "not healthy" that aren't avoidable.
It cracked me up so hard when it happened that I showed my partner and now, whenever we're super fed up with *waves hands generally*, we exclaim, "Well, France won't let us in if we... murdermurdermurdermurder..." π€£
20.11.2025 04:20 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I've been cautiously optimistic about apartments in Bretagne (France).
19.11.2025 21:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I cut off all my blood family for exactly that issue.
Sympathies.
I am not old enough to be sucking my teeth in disapproval so often, but anti-vaxxer takes really get me going.
Iron lungs should not be aspirational.
Get 'em! Dear gods... Machine translation has had some serious fails. Lyrical prose is NOT where you want that disaster.
A couple months ago, the machine translator on a French gov't website melted down at me. Instead of a list of prohibited offenses for getting a visa, it just listed "murder" x10.π
Oh, I do hope you get some relief soon! Fingers crossed they've got some good options for you to try immediately (that don't make you more miserable). π€
19.11.2025 17:16 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Moments when I remember my pets are rescues:
Listening to French streaming radio. There's a few clips from a recent French film that has two people having an argument, fairly tense.
My pets don't know French, they both look at me with concern.
Spend a minute or so talking them down from mild panic.π
There's a Canadian author here who gets the most amazing responses... Most of them insisting that the author is somehow involved/responsible for U.S. politics... Their user pic says "I am Canadian", "Canadian" is in their name title, & they have the Canadian flag prominent. π€¦ββοΈ
Nothin' doin'.
Wow. This thread sure is *something*.
OP: Hey guys, try not to be patronizing & awful, but especially to experts, even after they show credentials.
Many responses: But you're not citing your credentials "correctly"/enough/loud enough/other blame-y stuff.
"Don't be an ass," shouldn't be a high bar.
*zen tea and hugs*
It may, indeed, suck. But there is always a Through, no matter how rough.
Glad you're setting yourself up with tools, support, scripts, and care.
Don't underestimate the power of social engineering. Having people around you who Give A Damn makes a big difference. π«
Anyone remembering asking as a child, "Tell me a story," knows the difference between someone who can spin a yarn & someone without the skill/energy/patience/time. Real craft comes from investment of skill & care. 2/2
19.11.2025 08:17 β π 9 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Ideas are great and all, but any garage band can butcher a cover, where a great band can turn it into their own.
There are some amazing "covers" (retellings) of stories we all know out there. AND there is some real drek. 1/2
Hey, look at that, useful! Gentle reminder to breathe and pet a kitty.
19.11.2025 04:21 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Maybe contact info for ProPublica? They've been covering stories about citizens getting detained and they know how to make noise. π
