🫵 You can do something to help. Email Superintendent Tan Bin Kiat urgently to ask him to grant Masoud and his father a video call immediately: tan_bin_kiat@pris.gov.sg.

There is only one day left. Masoud's execution is at dawn on Friday, 29 November 2024.

Masoud's sisters are in Singapore and have been begging the prison authorities to facilitate a video call between Masoud and his father so that they can speak to each other one last time. The prison is currently refusing to do so.

The family is now appealing to the public for their support.

There are worries about the toll this will take on Masoud's father. As Mahnaz, Masoud's younger sister, says: “I don’t want my father to come all this way in this condition, maybe see Masoud for half an hour at best if he makes it in time, and then the next time he sees his son, it’s his dead body.”

Time is running out. But Masoud's father, who is in poor health, lives in a remote part of Iran. Between the time it took to get a visa and the logistics of travelling a long distance—first in Iran, before even getting on a flight to Singapore—he isn't going to make it to Singapore in time.

Masoud has been in prison for 14 years. He is an avid reader, poring over books on theology, psychology and the law. He helps other death row prisoners with their legal cases. He is so often helping others that he's admitted to his sister that he sometimes doesn't have time to work on his own case.

Masoud was born in Singapore to a Singaporean mother and an Iranian father. After his parents separated, he moved with his father to Iran. A few years later, they moved to Dubai, where Masoud went to high school.

At 17, he had to return to Singapore to serve mandatory military service.
