Editor on the 'Gaslight Sherlock Holmes' series, 'Professor Challenger: New Worlds, Lost Places' and 'Beyond Rue Morgue' anthologies. Mostly, I just like to read... but will rage about Canadian politics as a federal Liberal and AB NDP supporter in Calgary.
That leaves two that I won't be reading, Mark Greaney (American Guest of Honour) and Kevin Sands (Kids' Guest of Honour), since neither military thrillers nor children's fiction floats my boat. Roll on October. :-)

Have now read at least one book by Louise Penny (Lifetime Achievement Guest of Honour), Kathy Reichs (Cross-Border Guest of Honour), Abir Mukherjee (International Guest of Honour), Jennifer Hillier (Canadian Guest of Honour) and Vicki Delany (Cozy Guest of Honour).

On this day in 1933, King Kong premiered. It starred Canadian actress Fay Wray as Ann Darrow. The film became a commercial and critical success and made Fay Wray famous.
It is considered one of the greatest films ever made and earned $10 million ($250 million in 2026).
Nice to see media coverage on my fellow Canadian Sherlockian and BSI, Tom Ue. He is one of only two Baker Street Irregulars in Atlantic Canada. Of course, I'm the only one in Alberta, but that's beside the point. ;-)

He also wrote The Fifth Heart, wherein Sherlock Holmes suspects he might be a fictional character. www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/l...

It's also a study of creativity, of the relationship between author and reader, as well as that between film and viewer, blurring lines between fiction and meta fiction. Remarkable book on multiple levels.
