If I'm counting right, he blocked 185 people over this and the difference between times of blocking suggests he manually went through all the quotes and replies and spent quite some time on this. Not sure if that makes it better or worse.

It's got to depend on the nature of the impairment, surely? I'd expect partially sighted people and people who lost their sight later in life may both be sufficiently familiar with kerning that the joke may land even though they would benefit from the alt text -- but am interested how people answer.

She really did post that, I was doubting it as well but it's right there on her Instagram stories.

Deezer and TIDAL also supposedly pay a lot more than Spotify, so they might be a good shout if the album you're looking for is on there? (I'm not very familiar with them so cannot personally vouch for either.)

Image of the mechanical ladder outside the Louvre

Text below says WENN'S MAL WIEDER SCHNELL GEHEN MUSS (When you need to move fast)

Underneath is more German text which translates as "The BΓΆcker Agilo transports your treasures weighing up to 400kg at 42m/min - quiet as a whisper."

The German company that makes the mechanical ladder used in the Louvre heist has used the image to advertise, with the text 'When you need to move fast'

10/10 response, no notes

I have another cartoon in the current Private Eye.

Shoppers, assemble!

The mirror accounts have "No affiliation with the US government" in their bio, they're one individual's effort to mirror the US govt's Twitter accounts, not mirrors of their mass-blocked Bluesky accounts. By all means block them (I will too) but the blame here falls differently.

It's a bit of a hack, but maybe instead of font-weight: bold, you could use text-shadow: 1px 0?

16.10.2025 22:49 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Your bold font encodes in the font file itself that it is already bold, it would not surprise me if Chrome is using that to determine that no additional boldness needs to be applied.

Rarely, users may end up banned on Blacksky but not on Bluesky, or vice versa. Northsky may end up in a similar situation. In those cases you wouldn't be able to communicate with those specific people without migrating to some place that hasn't banned them, but that's the exception, not the rule.

16.10.2025 13:46 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Yeah, you're right that you can only choose one, but like Sloane said they're connected. That's why we can see our own posts on Blacksky (e.g. blacksky.community/profile/osca...) and why we can see Blacksky posts (e.g. bsky.app/profile/rude...). Northsky should be the same.

I like the ambiguity in the title which can be highlighted with the addition of two commas: "I believe Mandelson, when he says he didn't know Epstein, was a liar"

Migrating to Blacksky PDS: Complete Guide | Blacksky Documentation Complete guide to migrating your Bluesky account to Blacksky's infrastructure. Covers migration tools, step-by-step instructions, troubleshooting, and how to use Blacksky services without migrating.

docs.blacksky.community/migrating-to...:

"Blacksky Algorithms also operates two other PDSs that are open to anyone: myatproto.social - Open to all, cryptoanarchy.network - Open to all."

Use the same instructions from the guide, but when entering the PDS, use one of those instead of blacksky.app.

Thanks, and agreed with your main point. I do see that YouGov say that voting intention is currently 20% for Labour, possibly that might have been misreported somewhere as a 80% disapproval rating.

11.10.2025 11:12 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

The govt has a 69% disapproval rating and a 13% approval rating according to YouGov. Even when the Tories were in power it never went as high as 80%, the highest it ever was was 77% on 17 October 2022 when Liz Truss's own party was calling for her resignation. Where does this 80% number come from?

Also: does tangled handle deactivation requests? I tried creating a brand new account to see if that would work, it didn't, then tried deactivating the account. atproto-browser.vercel.app/at/hvdijk.tn... says RepoDeactivated, but tangled.org/@hvdijk.tngl... continues to show it.

Hi, new user here, I'm giving tangled a try in order to be able to submit a PR and I'm not able to create a fork because of this. I tried logging out and back in already to no avail. Could you do whatever magic is needed please?

Counterpoint: www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/p... says both ˈpri-mΙ™r and ˈprΔ«-mΙ™ are valid pronunciations of the first sense (even if the latter is listed as chiefly British). Who wins when it's Merriam-Webster versus Merriam-Webster?

Thanks, that is useful information, but I think it is not the same: that example from Microsoft shows up as Archived from 4 April 1975 at 13:00, but also shows 6 December 2024 at 01:44 as when it was posted to Bluesky. The example I linked to only shows the 2016 date.
