How is this any different from the street preachers doing their preaching with amplifiers around DTX every day?

Have been trying to encourage my parents not to do this whenever I visit and have managed to at least get them to turn it off during dinner.

It felt like a weird mashup of stuff from two or three other trek episodes/movies... trying to cram it all into one episode doesn't work, especially with these short streaming seasons
