Tiene sentido reclamar una enseña que fue arrebatada por la fuerza y que simboliza un período que, aunque imperfecto, apuntaba a ser de democracia y progreso sin parangón en la historia hasta ese punto.
Cabe destacar que además los republicanos entonces fueron perseguidos y asesinados sumariamente.
Contexto histórico. Mientras la primera República se considera que desapareció sencillamente por reinstauración monárquica, la segunda república despareció por un golpe de estado y una guerra civil posterior donde los sublevados fueron apoyados por los nazis.

Antes de la 2 República, eran los colores oficiales, de hecho durante la primera República la bandera era también la rojigualda con un escudo muy sencillo.
Se valoraron otros diseños, como una parecida a las de los países nórdicos.
El escudo si haría diferencia, no los colores.
