Ballot language for Missouri anti-abortion amendment doesn’t mention abortion ban • Missouri Independent A Republican-backed constitutional amendment would ban nearly all abortions in Missouri. But the ballot summary tells a different story.

Missouri lawmakers using manipulative ballot language to get what they want and overthrow the will of voters? Never… (see: sarcasm)

Did you know? Missouri citizens have amended the MO Constitution 31 times. Legislators have amended the MO Constitution 134 times! RespectMOVoters.org

Missouri legislators complain that the MO Constitution has been amended too many times (by MO citizens), but the vast majority of amendments have come from the legislators themselves!

This is a very important point. Breathlessly vague headlines and summaries of these executive orders created for the executive powers it does not have. This kind of press contributed to authoritarian regime change.

Trump’s new EO on voting exceeds his power—elections are conducted by the states. Congress, not Trump, has the power to legislate national standards they have to follow. So why would he do this? It’s about voter suppression & making it more difficult for people like you & me who oppose him to vote.

Why Missouri lawmakers can challenge voter-approved laws Several months after Missouri voters approved ballot measures to expand abortion rights and sick leave benefits, both are now facing challenges from state lawmakers.

"With this in mind, Missouri voters currently have no guaranteed protections against lawmakers challenging or reversing ballot measures."

We're working to change that!

This is in addition to our upcoming discussion on “On Freedom,” Wednesday, April 9.

Both meetings are from 6-7 PM at the Library Center, in room B
