(There are mayors but also gym leaders, who are a separate shogun-mayor with over the top theming and mannerisms. This is a sacred cultural practice and the common heritage of mankind. It's like how yugioh worldbuilding just accepts that this card game is more important than food or oxygen.)

(I think it's amusing if, alongside the normal government, the League oversees matters related to Pokemon and is also a martial hierarchy. Everyone takes this very seriously, of course, and I intend to never break tone regarding any of it cause it's funny. Gym type theming is serious business.)

The two main details that remain true are:
- Hex Maniacs are the result of some nebulous occult ritual that forcibly transforms people into the same archetype (they remain themselves, just with extra macabre interests and an impulsive giggle)
- League Politics are a thing.

The Hex absorption story ends with her devouring the souls of everyone on the planet so it can't really happen in the same one where Rika and Geeta get up to macro hijinks which can't happen in the same one where [UNFINISHED DRAFT], etc etc. I will let you know if there are funny exceptions.

All my Pokemon stories take place in the same setting (that is, my interpretations and extrapolation of lighthearted nintendo worldbuilding into a serious functional world) but branch off in separate timelines, usually because the girls cause a lot of irreparable damage to that setting.

At negative values, 'earthquakes' are caused by mundane things like dropping an object on the floor, whereas at higher values, earthquakes are severe enough to cause significant damage and deformation to the planet itself.
