The next stage of the Curriculum and Assessment Review will look to create a more inclusive and fair system, address subject-specific challenges, and assess available pathways beyond GCSEs.

Reading is crucial, but ultimately vocabulary and comp are massive and if kids go to secondary and they don’t understand what they have to read in all subjects it’s really tough. @alexjquigley.bsky.social made me think more about this than anyone, read his stuff and % and pass marks are irrelevant

Heard HT today say 80% of their Y6 left passing the reading SAT and how amazing this was and how proud they were. It is good, but we had 90%. It’s the 10% that worry me the most, plus the 15% who just passed. Reading is key and we should all be worried about it for the next step regardless of any %

So proud that in our first year, we’ve now contributed over £1.1 million in social value to our community through our coffee shop, thanks to our volunteers, social groups, exercise programs & mental health support. Plus, we’re helping more people get back into work, making a big impact every day.
