Yeah, I hear you on the subjective part of it. In my own writing, I've struggled sometimes with applying FLR or "Soft Fdom" when it's really just the tiniest whisper of D/s going on. I want to tag informatively and accurately but I also know not as many people know what FLR is.

Casual observation: A lot of scripts that are labeled Fdom are actually female-led relationships (FLR). I.e. a female speaker is in full control but there is no D/s dynamic happening whatsoever.

But because Fdom is the more popular tag, is that why people are using it?

As a listener, no, for reasons explained by others above.

IMO it also can sometimes cause confusion as to who is making those moans, gags, etc. when the listener had been silent up until that point. Is it the speaker or is there suddenly another person with us in this scene?

Yes! I've heard it before from different VAs. It takes me out each time. It's like the Willheim Scream of bj SFX.

That's good! In my personal experience on Reddit I have experienced some bean souping and felt pretty drained after receiving just one nitpicking DM. Like, it took me 40 hours just to record and edit that audio (not counting the writing time) can you please not nitpick?
