Hey @techconnectify.bsky.social, I found this dishwasher, and I thought you'd think it was interesting - according to the production code it was made in 1992, but it's literally never been used as far as I can tell, and the indicators and switches all have an excellent 90s clunk to them.

I reached out when I eventually did see something about it but I wish I'd been there to support her. I had gone through something very similar years before and I could have helped. But the algorithm decided that I was not statistically likely to engage and here we are.

I know I sound like a conspiracy theorist with this but for real, when an algorithm determines what you see, it also determines who you are friends with. One of my best friends from VIth form was dealing with an incredibly rough time and I just Did Not See It, because the algorithm never showed me.

The cropping on this is heinous, as always. Anyway, this is my first, possibly only MerMay art, but It's turned out pretty nice I think. The issue I had with him is that he's so vibrant and striped that I worried he might be a little too confusing on the eyes. Initially I had the stripe pattern go the entire way up his back, but it covered up the back muscles I'd worked so hard to get right. So I lowered it somewhat and added a smattering of scale work. The main torso was inspired by some amazing dancer references, with the hands flexing in the most delicious way, so when it came to a fish, i wasn't something with a similar flare to it, and I think as a barbed kind of effect, it went really well. Background wise, simple is so much easier haha! Black also worked quite well, but some gradient helped to separate sections of the body and make it appear to have a little more depth. Really hope you like him! <3

Mermay!

Found a little time to get this guy done, and if he's the only mermay art I get done, at least it was a fun one. The Lionfish is a bastard to paint, but worth it.
