To get the jokes, start with the 90-second video from the listing:

Then visit Scott's Brain:

Three vinyl stickers of the game changer loop-de-loop in progress pride, trans, and non-binary colours respectively. The stickers also have the words "we've been here the whole time"
Game Changer pride stickers are out now π (with massive thanks to @samreich.bsky.social for giving me permission to sell them!)

Ah good to have it!
This will be going into my lectures in my board game design classes.
Have you enjoyed pictures I've shared from my house (between Burford and Paris) in the country over the years?
Now my house can be your house!
(I'm downsizing and moving to south Cambridge.)
Feel free to share with anyone who would enjoy a country lifestyle.

I have had students use AI to write their board game rules for my class.
It never turns out well. They may look like rules, but you actually try to play the game and it falls apart.
So, I ask them to teach me their game.
It usually doesn't take long to get them to admit what they did.

In ONE WEEK, Central Michigan University Press will be at Gen Con! Find us in the Exhibit Hall and meet game designers Wendy Robertson (Hydrologic Cycle) and Jason Cox (Five Hundred Year Old Vampire (FYOV))! Staff members and affiliated designers will be part of various Gen Con events, too!
23.07.2025 21:17 β π 7 π 4 π¬ 0 π 0We are close to listing our property for sale. As part of the process, I learned that our barn was built in 1895.
So, I have a 100+ year-old garden shed and bird house.
(I made a video comparing ways to hold a camera for a virtual escape room from the barn: www.youtube.com/watch?v=SB1-... )
I feel that many board games targeting a non-mass market crowd have gone down the evolution scale. They are bloated, too large, and too expensive. It's excess for the sake of excess, both in design and in mechanisms. The Kickstarter machine has not been good for the hobby, in my opinion.

Please stop using UPS for Canadian shipments.
No matter what's in the package or what's on the customs paperwork, UPS Canada will assess a duty on it, and if the declared value is over 40$ CAD, will charge absurd, exorbitant customs broker fees.
(and every serious thing, too)

The floordrobe.
If you are a floordrobe fanatic, you know what I mean.
a pile of colored plastic lids for storage containers.
While downsizing, I have amassed this pile of lids. I do not know where any of the containers are that go with these lids.
I was excited as I found a container without a lid. I went through the pile... and NONE OF THESE LIDS FIT!
and with a black and white paint marker, you can turn those 1s into 3s or 5s and guarantee it!

You know, my "Escape the Zombie Jesus" escape tomb game never took off.
Even since COVID, I've been involved in one or two weekly groups on BGA, and lots of pickup groups.
I only play synchronous with live chat, as I want the experience of playing at a table.
I find if I play turn-based, I spend WAY too long analyzing my turns.
I would be happy to play w you.

I used to run with a pretty tough gang when I was younger.
The gang:
Three people around a board game that has fields and multicolored dinosaurs. The three people are wearing masks. One is a greybearded male wearing ty-edye. They are in a room surrounded by board games.

Dinosaur Island time!
I use some of the other approaches here (with the most effective being going to a board game flea market with a sign that says "I WILL TAKE ANY GAMES FOR PARTS TO TEACH GAME DESIGN", but then you don't get a lot of the same of something.
The teacher supply stores give you quantities.
