A busy start to my time running Carey Ringing Station in Dorset with 1147 birds of 32 species caught in the last fortnight! Highlights have been 527 Sedgies, 157 Gropper, 69 Reed, 15 Garwa, 99 Wilwa, 3 Tree Pipit, 9 Kingfisher and 7 Nightjars!! #ukbirding

‘Greenfinch in an apple tree’ (and on a bramble) This species has suffered in recent years from the disease trichomonosis & numbers have declined. I’m thankful that I still have this delightful species, singing away on my local patch in Staffordshire, UK. 🙂 #Birds #UKbirding #Birdphotography 🦉🪶

Interesting behaviour from this 2nd summer Lesser black-backed Gull at Belvide Reserve, Staffs. At first it looks to be tugging at a piece of plastic, in fact it’s nibbling on a fish jawbone (Carp maybe) A source of calcium? 🧐
