I rarely agree with Ted Cruz, but on this we’re united: he called FCC Chair Brendan Carr’s bid to suspend Jimmy Kimmel “right out of Goodfellas” and “dangerous as hell.”

Using government power to punish speech we dislike threatens everyone—left, right, or center.

Last time I checked the First Amendment doesn’t say “freedom of speech… unless you criticize Trump.”

Kimmel’s suspension is straight-up censorship.

We as parents can counter this. I grew up in repressive 1950s-60s but my liberal parents & pacifist grandparents made sure I wasn’t indoctrinated by right-wing school/society. In turn, I taught those values to my kids. Resist!

Daughters are no longer raised to be wives. They're raised to be people. And some people are really not okay with that. They're not being taught to sacrifice themselves for the comfort of others. Not being told that marriage is the finish line. Not being conditioned to make themselves smaller to be loved. They're being raised to earn their own money, choose their own timing, live alone if they need to, and not apologise for wanting more. They're building lives where love is welcome but not begged for. They're questioning things their mothers had to silently accept. They're choosing healing, not just habits. And for people who are used to obedience, that kind of freedom looks like defiance.
