We need to create a united culture of protest and activism. It is not enough to protest for a single cause when all that is vital to human and environmental health is being ripped apart by bad governments.

this should immediately have a commentator REMOVED from their roles, instead it’s a strong signal of just how decrepit and servile to power nz media is

We are told as children that if we are a victim of crime and not taken seriously to keep escalating the complaint until someone listens. This is no different. If someone is desperate for justice and or wants to prevent harm to others they will keep trying until they are silenced.

So the issue by which I am most exercised now isn't McSkimming, but everyone else. One appointment can fall through the cracks. But all of these statutory appointments overseen by the Public Service Commission, first as Commissioner or Deputy Commissioner, but then appointments at Social Investment

Deep-sea mining might feed plankton a diet of junk food An analysis of mining plumes in the PacificΒ OceanΒ reveals they kick up particles sized similarly to the more nutritious tidbits that plankton eat.

Say no to deep sea mining before it's too late.

I have not trusted the police or government on any law and order issue since 2023. The tree is rotten from top to bottom. God help you if you are a victim.

β€œCostello cut tax on HTPs to encourage smokers to switch to a safer alternative.” Actually she cut the tax to directly promote a Phillip Morris tobbaco vape, literally tobacco cartridges that have no health benefits over smoked tobacco. Costello was a paid tobacco advocate pre coalition.

Police 'failed' woman who accused Jevon McSkimming of sexual offending, her lawyer says The allegations arose from an affair between McSkimming and the woman who at the time was a junior non-sworn police employee.

β€œThe lawyer for a woman who accused former Deputy Police Commissioner Jevon McSkimming of sexual offending says police failed his client by dismissing her complaints & ultimately prosecuting her for speaking out”.
Who decided to charge her? Who?

I agree but we also need to know more about the images and videos. Were those victims located in NZ and exploited by a local sex ring, if so was the deputy commissioner part of the sex ring etc. So many more questions that need to be answered.

Disappointed to hear the new Police Commissioner say on RNZ this morning that it was a failure of leadership and not systematic. Those 'leaders' were created by the system. Women needed to hear recognition that it could be systematic and a determination to investigate and deal with that.

The inside story of how police protected a senior cop, and prosecuted his accuser instead For years, police leadership ignored warnings about Jevon McSkimming. The IPCA has set out the chain of failures.

Honestly, the IPCA report into the police (mis)handling of the McSkimming case makes for jaw-dropping reading.

But it’s 135 pages long so I’ve read it for you.

Here’s my report on one of the most serious failures of integrity in modern policing history⬇️⬇️

In our view, the reason these features came to the fore in this investigation can be found in certain aspects of Police culture – a culture which is deeply rooted in the history, traditions and practices of law enforcement agencies in all jurisdictions comparable to New Zealand. This culture emphasises the importance of hierarchy. It fosters a positive group ethos; promotes a strong sense of collegiality and loyalty to colleagues; rewards those who support the organisation and protect it from external criticism; and thus helps to maintain organisational
solidarity.

Mark Mitchell on RNZ Morning Report saying "just a few bad apples, rest of the Police are all goods". But the IPCA doesn't really seem to agree with this assessment?

The police and government have weponised both the fixated threat list and the mental health sector against victims of sexual crime, this is not a one off case.

Serious misconduct at highest levels: Police slammed in IPCA's McSkimming report A scathing report by the police watchdog has found serious misconduct at the highest levels of police including former Commissioner Andrew Coster.

There is so much more to say on this but the female victim isn't the only one to be gagged and refused an investigation.

Good article. We just have to look how far criminality climbs up the NZ police force (deputy police commissioner) to understand the dangers.

There are always dirty cops and politicians in any country and there are always street criminals pulling their strings.

PM will not step in over Peters' comments in RNZ interview Meanwhile, the Green Party co-leader says NZ First is "rinsing the biscuit tin with the latest outrage" with its plans for a private member's bill on defining "woman" in law.

This could be purely coincidental but it seems to me that RNZ has become soft in its reporting since Winston Peters made loud noises about funding cuts.

Former Deputy Police Commissioner Jevon McSkimming pleads guilty to possessing child sexual exploitation and bestiality material The charges against Jevon McSkimming, which also include possessing bestiality material, carry a maximum sentence of 10 years' imprisonment.

We are told we can still trust the NZ police yet there are more questions than answers.

The NZ media doesn't seem to have asked the most important questions e.g Are any of the exploited children NZ citizens, if so have these children been removed from danger.
