The Trump administration is at war with higher education in the United States. The question is not “will universities resist or submit” — it is: “will they survive the onslaught?”

DC has a lot of beautiful architecture. Lived in this city for 13 years. Looked up in my uber at the castle inspired @washingtonpost.com building, and now all I see is the weakness in this moment. “Democracy dies in darkness” huh. All I see are sandcastles that crumbled under the first wave.

Venezuelan Migrant Sent to Guantánamo Bay Is ‘Not a Criminal,’ Family Pleads (Gift Article) Luis Alberto Castillo arrived in the United States so that he could “give everything to his son,” said his sister. Then, while scrolling on TikTok, she found out he was headed to Guantánamo.

We only know this man is in Gitmo because Noem tweeted a propaganda photo that included him and his sister saw it. He has no criminal record. He entered the US in January and immediately made an appointment with CBP to claim asylum. They sent him to a concentration camp bc of his basketball tattoo.

Working on a Wild West horror novel. It’s steeped in folk magic and set in an alt. post-Civil War period.

A paranormal posse of outsiders seeks to expose a conspiracy of revisionist ex-Confederates/Klansmen who claim they’ve pierced the veil and spoken to God to carry out his will. #blackwriters

The stage of #authoritarianism where they say:
"The courts do not matter. Laws do not matter. We have the FBI, the U.S. Marshals, and the military. What do you have to enforce your so called orders & laws? The monopoly of violence we, the Executive Branch, have is the Final Law & Natural Order."

A #DCComics version of #MarvelRivals would be pretty cool! I feel like it has been a really good product for promoting buying comic books with how they put info on when a character/version of a character skin first appeared in comics. Also gives a great way to promote going to the movies with deals

Love how Kara is drawn here! So pumped for Woman of Tomorrow in the DCU…makes me wonder if they’ll put her on the Teen Titans. I felt like it’s always been a little up in the air where she fit in when it comes to teams. Would be great to see her outside of Clark’s shadow in Metropolis

If there really was any actual anti-white racism in any of these DEI initiatives then Musk and his little baby stormtroopers would be parading it everywhere by now.

Some context here:

In the U.S. the tariffs are like one of 5 major political stories this weekend.

In Canada they are everything. Wall to wall coverage. The clicks on our tariff copy are setting records - never seen a reaction like this to a single-day news event.

The 14th amendment is crystal clear, but because I’m a law school professor at a prestigious university, I’m going to pretend that the arguments that other law school professors at prestigious universities are making about its ambiguity have some kind of merit.

So Musk is using a “budget cutting” committee as a front to gain access to classified information to gain a competitive advantage over his competitors, while the CCP is also one of his most important business partners. Worth every penny of that PAC money.

Yeah so why criticize her wearing a necklace that has meaning for her. We all use symbols or objects in our lives for personal solitude. You’re all pretending like it’s the only thing she has ever done, as if she isn’t a Supreme Court Justice that actively pushes for progressive change,

It just seems a weird hill to die on because I am confident you use symbols in your life to come to solidarity with your community because you are human.

I think a lot of human history would prove that symbols are anything but pointless. That doesn’t mean everyone is going to come to arms, but that’s not the point and who knows…maybe a lot of people of African ancestry see this, learn something new, and dawn it in solidarity. That’s a good thing.

more seriously…One of the most dangerous things is if people lose hope of resistance. It’s why the Trump admin is on a shock and awe campaign. Anticipatory obedience is their goal. No one claims this is fixing it all. Coming online and shamming people for gravitating to a symbol is unhelpful.
