Belt buckle and belt plate (with punctim decoration) from near the Trajanic fort at Nether Denton, near Hadrian's Wall. Image: Β© The Trustees of the British Museum (CC BY-NC- SA 4.0)
This is rather delightful. Found at Nether Denton Trajanic fort, just south of #hadrianswall, this belt plate and buckle was old when it was deposited, since it is a Tiberio-Claudian type and matched by examples from the south of England.

It's a trick question, of course, because they kept changing their minds and adapting it (even abandoning it under Antoninus Pius), so much so that they never even completed the first plan ... or arguably the second!

This trio of headless figures were found at Vercovicium Roman Fort (Housesteads), Northumberland on Hadrianβs Wall.
They represent Matres or mother-goddesses carrying cups & fruits.

My photo shows a thin, rectangular, dark brown leaf of wood, which is broken in places. Across the surface are six lines of cursive Latin handwriting. The text is written in black ink which appears faded and faint. The Latin reads:
nenα»₯ ...[.]n. BrittoneαΉ£
nimium multi β£ equites
gladis β£ non α»₯tα»₯αΉtur equi-
tes β£ nec residunt
Brittunculi β£ α»₯t β£ iaculos

Translated as:
β¦ the Britons are unprotected by armour (?). There are very many cavalry. The cavalry do not use swords nor do the wretched Britons mount in order to throw javelins.
On display at the British Museum.

A colourful depiction of Hadrianβs Wall rolling across the Whin Sill on an old map of the Wall.
The beautiful cover art for a tourist booklet, Tynedale and the Roman Wall, produced by British Railways (the Railway Executive N.E. Region) in 1950.
It lies on a copy of the 1964 edition of the OS map of Hadrianβs Wall.

A carved stone with two lines of an inscription sits on a shelf in a museum. The first line of the inscription reads 'C DVR[O]TR[I]G'. Red lettering on the plinth reads: 'Record of building work by the civitas of the Durotrigian people of Lindinis (Ilchester).' At bottom left is the word 'Cawfields' [where this piece was found]. At top right is 'RIB 1672' and at bottom right is 'B263' and 'CH267'.
A certain site in Dorset has been in the news this week for its imminent TV appearance, so for #EpigraphyTuesday here is evidence that those Durotriges got everywhere! In the wonderful museum at Chesters on Hadrian's Wall, recording their building work. 1/3

A paved area of a Roman building runs from the foreground to the rear, with the phallus stone approximately at the centre of the picture. The paved area is set within grass, with a low outer wall. Towards upper right are some modern steps leading down into the Roman building. The remains of the Roman entrance are in front of them.
A close-up view of the phallus symbol. It is in a circular border carved in relief within a roughly square slab. The phallus is pointing to the right and is not placed centrally within the circle.
A paved area of a Roman building runs from the foreground towards the rear, with the phallus stone approximately at the centre of the picture. The paved area is set within grass, with low walls to the rear and around. The walls at the rear are the remains of the inner rooms of the Headquarters Building.
I've been travelling and have a feast of phalli to share over the following weeks! We'll start with an old favourite. This one often appears here, but I've added some photos showing its context for those who might not have the chance to visit. 1/2
