Is there, in fact, any isekai anime that is complete?

The other thing I noticed, watching the movies in quick succession, was the steady boom-boom-boom of the eucatastrophes going off!

Kiki’s Delivery Service is the key example. I noted:

There is so much kindness in so many of Miyazaki’s movies. Plots animated by kindness. If people were not kind and open: nothing would happen!

The great twists in Miyazaki movies are that people and creatures turn out to be friendlier than you expect. The dog in the big house in Kiki.

Plots animated by kindness: not saccharine or dull, but soaring and magnetic. Stories about kindness that draw potent chemicals into your blood just as surely as the thrillers do! That make your heart thrum, pull your cheeks tight. That tell you about the world, and what’s possible in it.

This kind of art is just as deadly serious as the baddest, saddest streaming TV series you have ever seen. Believe it.

It's extremely weird how people with morality extremely different from Tolkien think that his books are crypto-justifications for their preferred political agendas

Is there an in depth explanation of what the bug is?

I'm thinking a github issue/PR/PoC exploit or something similar

In my experience, LLMs are bad at things that require a holistic understanding of the codebase.

They can be guided to see the necessary. I used the word "grandcallers" the other day to get it to learn the right context

Programming without programmers has been the dream since COBOL, and it's never panned out.

I expect it to fail this time too.

So I had a video I had legitimately bought on iTunes. Tried to watch it, but I can't. Some DRM bullshit means the file can't be used without Apple's ongoing consent.

So I pirated it. Because that's the only way to actually get media that works

I recognize the implication that it would not be viable, but I do not yet have a concrete plan to deal with it

But I am selling my work professionally. Every line of code I commit needs to be one I can stand behind.

That might not be true if I were, say, scripting a tool that only I was going to use

I do a lot of React stuff, where it's actually very fast to look at a bunch of code and say <this is doing the obvious thing to create the HTML I want>, so that might not be a big lift.

I often tell cursor I don't like its approach and to redo it.

29.11.2025 22:43 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

If I ask cursor/Claude to write a function for me, I read the whole thing and make sure I understand what it does as well as if I wrote it myself. I don't think that's vibe coding, but it sure speeds up my progress when I have to make a lot of changes or add missing tests

29.11.2025 22:41 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

It's vibe coded if the human who asked for it doesn't understand how it works.

That's very bad if that person is supposed to be a programmer. The jury is still out on if it's bad for someone who can't program to vibe code something. Probably for production code, maybe not for a personal tool

I'm also a bit anxious about a Jevon's paradox situation.

I.e Code is cheaper, so we make and use more of it, which is likely to lead to more issues. Most of the cost of systems is in maintenance not build.

We will see, if it was going to have a huge impact we should be seeing it.

If a parking spot is empty on Black Friday, it never needed to be built in the first place. Today is an opportunity to document the physical footprint of excessive parking requirements while you happen to be out shopping.

Not really getting the Bluesky bluecheck. Having DNS for user names seemed like a better option, and I don't see what the value of a checkmark is compared to that

Undefined behaviour in get_large_size_class() Β· Issue #133 Β· GrapheneOS/hardened_malloc As mentioned there, I'm opening this issue to discuss another finding I investigated following static code analysis of hardened_malloc. If we can reach the following definition in get_large_size_cl...

France's cybersecurity agency was previously actively using GrapheneOS. They helped us by auditing our code and submitting bug reports such as this one:

github.com/GrapheneOS/h...

They also made suggestions for security improvements to improve protection against exploits.

ANOM – Darknet Diaries In this episode, Joseph Cox tells us the story of ANOM. A secure phone made by criminals, for criminals.

Please listen to this podcast about ANOM:

The FBI ran a string operation in Europe where they created their own 'secure' phone and messaging platform. Their OS used portions of our code and was heavily marketed as being GrapheneOS or based on GrapheneOS.

Playing through any non-current World of Warcraft content is like this.

You want the ending? Do you have 20 friends at the same point in the game to play through the raid? Group finder doesn't support old content, you have to find them yourself

After "film trilogy that dropped a critical plot point exclusively via timed Fortnite event" and "video game series whose story only makes sense if you're aware of the events of a canon pachinko machine", I feel like there are whole frontiers of user-hostile narrative design waiting to be explored.

I have added an update to the article. There's a summary at the top now too.
