JUSTICE FOR TRANS YOUTH On July 31st, a group of activists representing BASH BACK took action against Wes Streeting's office in Ilford, in response to his continued abuse of trans people in the medical system, and attempts to cover up the suicides of trans young people under his watch as Health Secretary. In the months since the puberty blockers ban, we have seen huge backpedals in the healthcare rights afforded to trans people - and young people especially - in an NHS system that was never kind to us in the first place. Under Streeting's rule, GPs have been banned from conducting blood tests on trans patients accessing HRT, and trans people have been banned from accessing hospital wards that fit their gender, leading necessarily to poorer quality of care across the board. Streeting, along with NHS England, the EHRC, and Hillary Cass, have paved the way for state-mandated conversion therapy, which has since led to the Department of Education's proposed introduction of a "Section 28" style bill, preventing discussion of transness in the classroom. It is clear now that Wes Streeting and the Labour government intend to erase trans people from public life, and will go out of their way to do so, no matter how many bodies lay in their path.

Our statement on the actions at Wes Streeting's office last night.

We refuse to sit and watch as trans young people have their healthcare stripped from them. We refuse to allow Streeting to cover up their suicides. We refuse to endure the violence and humiliation. They will have to go through us.

Corbyn won't do shit for trans people. He'll prioritise the whims of establishment trade union figures and transphobes who supported him when he was Labour leader. Sorry if this disappoints but that's how it will go down.

That is on a nationwide basis of course. When you factor in how massively concentrated wealth is *inside* nations it becomes even more clear that a tiny, tiny percentage of the world have a terrifying amount of our resources and if you think they are going to give them up peacefully you are naive.

This is true! Conservatives almost always start their attacks on freedom with children or young adults. Because kids have so few rights, they can normalize the loss of even more rights.

It’s one of the big reasons why paying attention to what is happening to schools is important for all of us.

Trans people poured their hearts into this consultation. The EHRC won't even bother to read them.

Cis people love to assume authority over us even well intentioned allies can unwittingly do this. I think this is one of the reasons i can be a bit distant and distrustful of strangers cause cis people can turn into gender cops at any moment and decide to revoke my womanhood with their cis supremacy

Cis liberals often get even more upset and defensive than conservatives when called out on transphobic language because it pokes holes in their self-image as Good Supportive Allies who Get It. They take it personally whereas conservatives just roll their eyes.

One of the most disheartening things about trans advocacy is how little the people who claim to be on our side actually listen to us.

appealing to the humanity of trans children doesn't work on transphobes because they really, genuinely hate trans children. that removing essential healthcare from trans kids increases poor mental health is a bonus for them.

The more people know something that can put someone at risk, the greater the chance that it will reach the wrong ears. That goes for the identity of a person responsible for an action, the legal status of a member of your community, the location of a private meeting, or a plan for future activity. Sharing such information with people who do not need it puts them in the position of being able to endanger others with a single error. Identify your goals and the threat models you are concerned about so you can pick the security measures that meet your needs. When making a plan, start by agreeing on the appropriate security practices so everyone is on the same page. At the beginning, err on the side of caution: it’s easier to shift from a higher level of security to a lower level than vice versa. Trust your gut. Don’t let anyone talk you into doing something you don’t feel good about. If you take a risk and something goes wrong, you’ll feel better knowing that you trusted your intuition and took every reasonable precaution. Don’t leave a trail. Credit cards, cell phones, and other electronics create a record of your purchases, movements, and contacts. Use Signal for messaging. Lock your phone and computer with a long alphanumeric passcode. Don’t take them to demonstrations, through border crossings, or into other high-risk situations. Build confidence. A decent chunk of sexual politics is defined by the attitude, "I'll never get respect as a person, so I'll learn to accept and maybe even enjoy being desired as an object."

This is usually accompanied by defensiveness, and anger at anyone who does not settle for this and points out it's fucked up.

also don't forget that the adults affected are not the only group harmed, but children themselves are being surveilled and policed out of accessing potentially life-saving help. this is a regime that is *designed* to trap kids with their abusers by cutting off access to the outside world.
