On to Ghost of Yotei. FFVII rebirth is kind of intimidating right now. Have seen all kinds of people say how long it is.

What happened? Did just so many users drop so only the big spenders were left?

Is that the boss that’s kind of in a completely separate chamber where you warp in or something? So then the only way to get back is presumably to warp into the middle of a boss fight?

I’ll go back and reload my cloud save and see if my body is at camp

Thinking about this game, and there is no way any person who didn’t play the original FFVII or read a synopsis would have any idea wth was going on. It never explains who Sephiroth is or what he wants, drops Zack in at the end… And that Cait Sidh cameo in mid-game.

I gotta give this one another go. I got deep in it and got killed by a boss, and then didn’t want to deal with getting back there to pick up my gear.

Next up, the Yuffie DLC. And then to decide whether I want to go on to Rebirth, or take a break to play Ghost of Yotei.

The music is 10/10, and the story kept me engaged, to see how it would differ from the original. Cutscenes run a bit too long, but overall great game. 9/10

The story change moving Jenova to Midgar makes sense and provides more story fodder to stretch out that section of the original game.

Ok I finished ch. 16 last night, and now I’m eager to see the story finish, and kind of all about this game. Red XIII, Sephiroth, and Jenova got me fired up.

I’m 20 hours into FFVII Remake, in ch. 16. The combat has grown on me. The long cutscenes that I can only speed up to 1.5x haven’t. A great looking game, music 10/10. I think stretching the whole midgar section out to an entire game was not the best choice, but can’t think of a better cutoff point

I am rarely a day 1 purchaser. I can think of only a couple of games I bought on release day - GTAIV and Red Dead Redemption

Wolverine will be a day 1 purchase, and maybe a day off work.

QTP with the game you’re currently playing

Saw that Sony is delaying the PS6. That’s fine with me. I promised my wife I wouldn’t buy another console for several years, and there are tons of PS4 and PS5 games I haven’t played. There’s very little to gain by more graphical fidelity, and with costs rising, maybe Sony should focus on software

#justbeatit again - I couldn’t let it go. Reloaded the last save, checked out a gamefaq and went back and got the last item I needed to unlock the best ending.

It’s not bad. Wasn’t trying to sound all “I’m a good gamer,” but you can outfit your character with gear that really does make survival in the late game bosses just a given, if you also have potions.

@polykillpodcast.bsky.social #justbeatit Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance - This Iga-vania improves on Circle of Moon, but 1) relatively easy to finish, 2) needs more warp points to make traversal better in late game hunting. Was ready to be done, didn’t bother getting the “true” ending. 7.75/10

They are a good root vegetable to put in with a traditional pot roast, along with carrots and onion

It annoys me. There’s something about the melodies of the songs and the way they’re sung in the movie that grates on my last nerve. Wife and I have forbidden the kids from watching it in our presence.

Everyone complaining about “no games” this console gen. Between new stuff and old stuff I haven’t played, I have more than enough games to keep me occupied. I don’t get it.

@polykillpodcast.bsky.social #justbeatit Return to Arkham: Harley Quinn’s Revenge - On a DLC scale of Oblivion’s Horse Armor to Red Dead’s Undead Nightmare, this 3-4 hr epilogue to Arkham City falls in between. Short, but worth playing. Play as Robin, which is fun. Do more Arkham City stuff. 7/10

Rented this one a lot back in the day.

These games were so good. Paved the way for the Sony Spider-Man games.

I had this on 32X back in high school and couldn’t get anywhere in it. Maybe the second stage. Ditched it pretty quickly.

It occurred to me that Castlevania games have followed the SOTN formula pretty steadily, bc it’s the best of the series. Yet they don’t employ its smoother/faster movement and combat. Why go back to the plodding and cumbersome whip/movement after SOTN?

@polykillpodcast.bsky.social #justbeatit Return to Arkham: Arkham City - I enjoyed this when it originally released, and I enjoyed it again this time. But it’s not as good as Arkham Asylum. The game mechanics work better in the asylum’s tighter, closed environment. Asylum’s story was better too 8/10
