I want to see every scientific society going into emergency mode. This is a good example of how an organization can flex its specific power in a time of great need. What else is possible?

I think some people hear βgrantsβ and think that without them, scientists and government workers just have less stuff to play with at work. But grants fund salaries for students, academics, researchers, and people who work in all areas of public service.
βPausingβ grants means people donβt eat.
Colleen Bove presents her work: βTranscriptomic resilience of the winter-acclimated marine gastropod Crepidula fornicata under short-term elevated temperature stressβ to a room.
Talks from science besties, especially those you know because of a particular conference, are the best.
@drseabove.bsky.social is sharing about her new work on Crepidula snail response to thermal stress. #sicb2025

All you have to do is go to one of my students' talks at SICB & post a πΈπ¦ here of them presenting!
Once you post the picture, DM me the link & whether you prefer a M/XL shirt!

Love that my dogs spilled an entire coffee on my open laptop today, completely frying it. Especially fun that when I handed it to IT, it dripped a little coffee out and he just said I would never be seeing it again. Happy end of semester to me! π«

Three bullet points explain: buddy pairs are randomly assigned, opportunity to forge connection, and chat about R or anything else! The bottom shows 'Sign-up by Sun Dec 8th' in green text, followed by website information 'rainbowr.org/buddies' in blue.
Sign-up for the next round of the rainbowR buddies scheme is open! Buddies will be paired/introduced on Dec 9th ππ―ββοΈ

@taramcallister.bsky.social I'll try to figure out how to turn this into a feed too.
I couldnβt find a starter pack for POCs working in STEM, so I started one myself - my network here is still small and I didnβt want to assume how people identify, so please reply or DM me if you want to be added!
