Is there a ghost in my family tree? It’s not every day that you find a possible relative who was reportedly haunting a street. I turn ghost-hunter, meets ghost-buster, to see whether there’s any truth in the story.

Children belonged to him.

Small reforms 1839 & 1873:
→ Mothers could petition
→ BUT only if they proved 'moral fitness'
→ Fathers still presumed fit

I have two properly documented 4C1R who are attending #RootsTech. Almost all the other suggested connections are based on errors in the big tree.

Most of mine are useless to me bc they are through my great-grandmother’s adoptive parents and not her birth family. It’s a big reason I find FamilySearch’s tree so frustrating to deal with. I have the same issue with my paternal grandmother whose bio-dad I indentified.

4C1R is my closest too Of my 298 many are 'imaginative' at best. The split between my grandparents is v uneven 8 157 1 156 which doesn't add up to the total!!!🤷‍♀️

Yes, I’ve seen a lot are via the first husband of my 2x Gt Grandmother. The husband *might* have been my 2x Gt Grandfather, but I have no evidence yet. Also, a bit of spot checking last night found some incorrect 3x Gt Grandparents.

It’s fun, but not necessary fact

Obituaries are either a genealogical goldmines or “Mr. Smith died some time ago, survived by relatives” and that’s it. #Genealogy #FamilyHistory

My closest related #RootsTech attendees are two 3rd Cousins, 1x Removed. One based in Canada, the other in the UK.
