Getting ready to disrupt the status quo.
Students are coming today, but I have nothing on the walls and we are starting not with a seating plan and classroom rules but a sharing circle.
Letβs see where this goesβ¦.

G7 @GrohPS Collaborated with artist Sandra Dunn on a #designthinking journey exploring:
βHow might we tell the stories of our community through public art?β
From empathy to ideation to Forging Legacies this final piece is a celebration of voices made visible.

5 days left. Weβre not winding down weβre opening up.
These final days arenβt for filling time; theyβre for making meaning.
Students deserve more than busywork.
They deserve voice, choice, and space to reflect.
Weβre ending with curiosity, creativity, and connection.

Start small.
Rethink one question, one expectation, one moment.
Thatβs where disruption begins.

A3
When we minimize play in education, we lose curiosity, creativity, and connection. Learning becomes performative, not authentic. Risk feels dangerous, not generative. Without play, we raise students who comply but rarely question, wonder, or innovate.
#EduSkyAU
A6
What if we took play as seriously as productivity?
Weβd redesign schools for flow, not efficiency.
Measure joy, not just output.
Value exploration over outcomes.
We might just raise more creative, resilient humans instead of compliant ones.
#EduSkyAU
A2
Can deep learning happen without play? Technically, yes, but itβs slower, risk averse, and often surface level. Play fuels agency, flow, and emotional connection. Itβs not the only path to depth, but itβs one of the richest, most human ones.
#EduSkyAU
A4
Playful mindsets invite curiosity, risk-taking, and trust, key ingredients for innovation. They lower the stakes, spark joy, and make space for co-creation. In play, hierarchies dissolve and ideas flow. Thatβs where real collaboration begins.
#EduSkyAU
A5
If play were a design principle in schools:
Curiosity would lead.
Risk & failure = learning.
Spaces & time would flex.
Power would shift.
Teachers = co-players.
Assessment = artifacts, not grades.
Weβd stop teaching to the testβand start designing for wonder.

What happens when we design learning that starts with curiosity instead of outcomes?

We build walls of thinking not anchor charts of answers.
These are real student sticky notes from a recent inquiry.
What happens when we make student thinking visible?
They feel seen.
They start thinking more.
They become the drivers of the learning.

Innovation is a mindset, not a moment.
Disruption doesnβt mean chaos. It means asking better questions, designing with purpose, and building space for learning to look different.

A quote reads, βInquiry is not a project. Inquiry is how we show up in the classroom. Inquiry is a stance from which we teach.β Below the quote, it says, βInquiry Mindset, Trevor MacKenzie.β To the right is part of the book cover, featuring the title, subtitle, and illustrations of icons such as a question mark, lightbulb, and a drawing of a smiling child.
Teaching through inquiry is about more than projects. Itβs a mindset that shapes how we engage and inspire students.
How can we adopt inquiry as a teaching stance to spark curiosity and deeper learning?

We donβt want compliant students.
We want curious ones.
In a creatively disrupted classroom:
We focus on questions, not just answers.
We praise risk-taking, not perfection.
We talk more about thinking than grades.
How are you creating a culture of curiosity?

What if there was no front of the room?
When we change our position in the classroom and sit with students, we are able to listen in
on their conversations and get a better sense of their views, their opinions and their thinking.
Compliance vs. Curiosity
Itβs time to disrupt this cycle.
Letβs trade busywork for bold ideas.
Letβs create spaces where curiosity leads, not compliance.

3rd grade T used inquiry-based learning to elevate her Ss' writing skills. By guiding them to ask both deep, open-ended questions and simple, closed ones, she encouraged critical thinking & a more thoughtful writing process. Great way to empower students!
