I think it’s at least partly a geographically defined variety thing. Like my impression is that it’s all or mostly cum in Indian English but basically all slash in the American English I come across (including my own)

I lived in Germany from 2013 to 2022. The AfD wants bad things and does bad things to get them. It is simultaneously shocking and entirely on brand that Vance would be supporting them. They are each disqualified by supporting the other.

I would encourage you to reach out! Sometimes organizers really are unaware of these things and appreciate having them pointed out. Sometimes there’s internal disagreement in committees, and sending the signal that this matters is really important support for those who are fighting on the inside.
