Re-signing Kelly and retaining Gallen or getting a high compensatory pick for him would be a home run this upcoming offseason. Opportunity to compete again in 2026 and beyond, especially once their litany of key pitchers return from TJ.

Love the trade deadline approach from the Dbacks, who had a season not unlike the Suns falling short of expectations (largely due to injuries). Re-stocked the cupboard with 8 pitching prospects + a ready-now young 1B. In some ways parallels to the Suns this summer albeit a brighter Dbacks future.

Tbf, the Lakers had the best regular season record in the West by 3.5 gb and 2nd/3rd best overall. The Clippers on paper were their biggest competition in the West, and they crapped the bed in the Bubble. As for health advantages, LeBron was a season removed from 8 straight Finals and AD is random.
30.07.2025 20:47 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0
Eh, lockout season is a different animal than locked inside the Bubble. They had world-class amenities and eventually their families there with them. But itโs still not home and had to require a different level of mental endurance. Lockout season shouldnโt be asterisk either. Just different random.
30.07.2025 16:55 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0
Any physical advantage, which LA certainly benefited from, was equitable across all teams and reason why there were so many historic scoring and shooting numbers. The mental grind was the offset. Maybe purely a coincidence, but not a huge surprise LeBron and Jimmy each represented.

I agree it should be marked with an asterisk, except not in the way Morey implies. Arguably the most mentally grueling NBA championship to win. Saying otherwise is trash rhetoric. Coming from a Lakers hater.

You had this tweet in jest a couple years ago iirc something to the effect of how will olโ Donny boy wiggle himself out of this one this time. It stuck with me. In every instance something egregious or horrendous is revealed thereโs always a clean escape without a care in the world from his base.

Oh shit I forgot about Elie on the Suns late career and blanked on the Morrii. Ainge hard to forgive him for leaving Paxson open even though that was partially Chuckโs fault going for the steal.
I also donโt actually despise Beal & KD, but very annoyed how it all played out and ended.

Could also talk me into Josh Jackson over Beasley and an honorable mention for DA just because of how infuriating he could be (I generally liked him otherwise).
Iโll do a favorites list to balance out the negativity, but itโs a harder list to narrow down into a real lineup.

My all-time least favorite Suns players that could reasonably make up a real lineup. 2025 Edition.
Beal, Turkoglu, KD, Horry, Shaq and 6th man Michael Beasley
What is your lineup?

3 years / $42m with a player option at the end is pretty damn crazy. Banking a lot on a small guard who will be 36 next year. I guess if thereโs a guy you would bet on to overcome the odds itโs him.
17.07.2025 22:11 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0
In an environment (NBA and world at large) of constant change and uncertainty thereโs an inherent value in loyalty and seeing things through to the end as a partnership for the player, organization, and fans.
* I get the contract differences, but thereโs a big gap in player value

Waive & stretch opens up more opportunities short-term. Significantly hurts long-term championship contention with already slim margins and improbable odds. Dark day for Phoenix Suns basketball after two massively disappointing seasons.
