couple statements so my beliefs are clear:

- if you decide you’re trans, then you’re trans.

- neopronouns & xenogenders are hella cool.

- everyone should be able to get HRT if they want.

- you don’t need to medically transition or have dysphoria to be trans.

- liberation not assimilation.

Don’t let your fur baby suffer unnecessarily - vaccinate! FeLV has so many systemic consequences and some studies suggest median survival of 2.5 years after diagnosis. I can only hope Aya doesn’t have FeLV or has latent disease 🙁

FeLV is a retrovirus, which means it incorporates itself into the genome.

Vaccination is now a core vaccination recommended for kittens. It is not 100% effective, but why not be better protected? Aya was a rescue and was never offered!

FeLV affects around 2-3% of cats in the US. It is the most common cause of cancers in cats, may lead to immune deficiency, and various other disorders. Aya has hyperesthesia and weekly vomiting - two symptoms which could be signs of FeLV, but were always regarded as normal by her vets.

My cat, Aya, was recently found to have labs suggestive of Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) - a severe neutropenia and several other markers of bone marrow dysfunction. No vet ever explained the necessity of vaccinating for FeLV, but make sure your cats get vaccinated!
