- he was about to curse, he looked up and saw the old lights of the base coming back into life.

“Knew that was gunna work.”

He didn’t.

“You’re kidding?”

He somehow felt surprised despite the fact that such a thing sort of fitted the Doctor’s peculiar MO. But with a shrug, he brushed off his thoughts, and he resumed his fiddling.

A few moments passed, and a small spark flicked out against Req.

Req then shrugged his shoulders.

His words were mumbled. Req didn’t really understand Valerie’s attachment with a Time Machine, but he found the whole dynamic increasingly endearing. As she asked where he wanted to go, he stumbled close and scratched his beard.

He contemplated for a second.

Req couldn’t be entirely sure. He had never set foot in it before, but even in his universe -

And in that split millisecond of time: The statue had clearly moved noticeably closer. Though its body, that of an angel covering her face, hadn’t changed.

Req, who had turned to re-face the statue, couldn’t help but smirk.
