I’m convinced that was the lyrical source. Obviously, all conjecture, but the song is full of too many parallels. The Maureen Cleave interview even mentions his giant Bible that I suspect was his (stoned) source!

Interesting how two of the songs recorded at the session were on Brian’s ‘top pops’ of 1961 as listed in the Jan ‘62 issue of Mersey Beat. Clearly, some arms being twisted.

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Years was a must-watch for me - a spinoff of the brilliant Radio 1 series 25 Years of Rock (which I obsessively recorded on the trusty Sony CHF90s)

Reiterating other comments, definitely Q magazine, CDs, post-Live Aid and MTV (Genesis, Gabriel, Stevie Winwood et al embracing videos). Also one of the earliest occasions in which middle aged parents were equally as savvy about pop/rock as the kids.
