I give my dog little cut up pieces of hot dog as a treat on walks etc and today I took a new one out and smelled it to make sure it hadn’t gone bad, holding it to my nose horizontally as one does a fine cigar, like some sort of slapstick bit.

Really great list! I don’t listen to sufjan Stevens so can’t really play the game but I want forestiere’s underground gardens and llano del Rio on here ha (I’m sure so many more will come to mind throughout the day).

Just came across a coyote trotting up the sidewalk while walking my dog and it reminded me that I saw one recently in downtown in front of the music center. Pretty soon they are just going to be like squirrels here in LA.

Not sure what is going on here. Lattices? Skylight-type angled roof? Big rounded bubble window? A blade sign on an apartment building? Why are these two structures connected?

Maybe the fact that so much of the city was destroyed in a fire in 1889 and quickly rebuilt meant they felt like it would be wrong to tear them down in the 20th c?

I was just touring Spokane on Google earth and I don’t think I knew it has some really great large-ish turn of the century buildings. The city went from 350 people in 1880 to almost 20,000 in 1890! LA was a significantly bigger city but so little from that era survives, especially big stuff.
