The real take is that there are several ideological or strategic wings that can all be considered “establishment,” but our current low trust conditions are harmful to being an ”insider,” so nobody wants to embrace the label.

Therefore, “establishment” is relegated to a pejorative.

Every day I grow more and more firm in my belief that the term “Establishment Democrat” is so nebulous that it is functionally without value.

It cannot be considered = to “moderate” as the progressive wing is well-represented, and arguably dominant, among “established” figures.
