A selfie with John Scalzi, after signing his new science fiction novel, "The Shattering Peace"

Me after John signs my book: Quick selfie, John?

Scalzi: Sure!

Me: Can you hold up my book so you can promote it?

Scalzi: Oh...

Honest marketing, good sir. Honest marketing.

Thanks so much for visiting us and sharing your experiences! Old Man’s War speaks to me in new ways these days...

Fun @scalzi.com story: The man just wants to tell stories. He's kind enough to visit us at the local library, share some great stories about publishing and process, and even poses for selfies at the end of it all.

@scalzi.com β€” Phenomenal! See you’ve got a stop at my home town on your Shattered Peace Tour in early January. I’ll have my hardbound ready for your John Hancock β€” love the series!

Incredibly disappointed in #Apple communication and marketing for Apple Intelligence. It’s unfortunate to see a company with such a strong tradition in design dissolve by way of an affection for fiction.

How’s Android looking these days?

Just recently finished book 3, Morning Star. Quite a bit of thinking and world building going on in these books. Honestly, it strikes me almost as a sort of literary anime, seeped in quite a bit of melodrama. Entertaining and enjoyable series! πŸ”₯

Seems like a good time to note that he’s just a capitalist who spouts sci-fi from the 60’s and 70’s as though he came up with the ideas.

Apart from that, there’s not a lot to see there.

Visionary capitalist quotes 60’s and 70’s sci-fi novels, passing off pulp as his own.

Strange β€” I’m not certain why news outlets would continue to trust Meta after their hijinks. Does not make sense to me at all.

Totally fair counterpoint. I’ve taken to buying the omnibus/collected editions to save space.

True, comics are available at the library, but there’s nothing like having a nice collection of stories you own. The world has transformed into a subscription-based culture. Streaming movies, music subscriptions, even apps, very little ownership.

Ha! I gave plasma in college to afford a proper fix of comic books. Even graduated from the Kubert School in Jersey to better understand how they worked (though the industry was pretty off putting). I get ya!

Oh, I get it. I’m a 54 year old man who reads comic books. Thankfully, writers like Neil cater to the tastes of folks who aren’t really into the capes and costumes thing. Thankfully.
