Riddlebird Week

A chart of engagement numbers covering 2021 at 80, 2022 at 31, 2023 at 72, 2024 at 112, and 2025 at 36.

We've run this event five years now and here's how entry numbers have varied. 2022 was lower as we switched to a prompt per week but 2025 is indicative of a lot of stressors.

To add your work just type Riddlebirdweek_2025 in the "Post to Collections" box and hit enter. It may not pop up as a suggestion but this will find it. We hope to get entries each day and will share links when necessary. We'll also accept late entries.

A reminder that #riddlebirdweek is here as well as tumblr so you may use either or both sites to share your submissions. Nothing will be reposted onto the other social media but it will get reblogged where its posted. Works added to the AO3 collection will have links shared if not already done so.

In order for us to find and share your submissions they should be tagged #riddlebirdweek. If I seem to have missed your entry please @ me because it surely wasn't intentional. As always, please abide by general tagging courtesies so everyone has a nice experience. Late entries will also be welcome.

Remember that no-one has to contribute every day. Maybe you'd have liked to do them all but life got in the way. Whether you're sharing 7 complete works or a solitary wip we're happy to have you here. Even if its only a vague plot, a sketchy outline, or a theme for your edit, you can still share it.

Fans are what make a fandom and good ones make a community. For #riddlebirdweek we want everyone to feel welcome. Why not send us, or another open blog, an ask? You could find a discord server to join or initiate your own channel hosting a chat section. Make friends with people who get the passion.

A reminder that #riddlebirdweek is just for fun so don't feel pressured by any of it. There's been encouragement to step outside of comfort zones but if you have one thing you'd rather stick to then you're welcome to do so. Let everyone else see how much you love your vision and they'll love it too.

ONE WEEK LEFT!

The time is almost upon us. It's 7 days until the first prompt and 13 until the last. We've had fun imagining all the works we're going to see for #riddlebirdweek but now we have to prepare to deliver. Whichever prompt or prompts you're aiming for, we're counting the days now folks.

There's been a lot of different versions shared on here but by no means all the possibilities. Not least because I know a lot of fans have their own designs and original concepts. We'd be happy to see and share these unique looks at the characters. #riddlebirdweek is a time to celebrate them all.

Book Crooks is a kids book featuring a team-up of Penguin and Riddler. These two have worked together in countless iterations over the years and will continue to be paired up for many more. Choose your favourites from all media versions for #riddlebirdweek and share in the joy of match making them.

Why not mix things up for #riddlebirdweek? You have 7 prompts and could switch-up the pairs, maybe ones you're less familiar with. That could mean watching a show you haven't seen yet or reading a new comic. You could even use several variants in the same prompt. Hopefully we'll see lots of variety.

Creativity often gets started with LEGO and the Batman universe offers plenty of options for #riddlebirdweek. There's the video games, with Legacy of the Dark Knight out next year, the films or the toys themselves. Draw, write or invent however you like to demonstrate the love of Penguin and Riddler

We've given you seven prompts to use however you wish. Sometimes the finished project may stray from the initial idea and that's okay. We want you to be inspired and follow that thread. Or you may find a way of linking all the prompts into a continuous piece for #riddlebirdweek. It's your ball now.

Not only is there the charismatic duo of Penguin and Riddler but you also have Quizz and Ducky their sentient vehicles. Use whichever pair you prefer or incorporate all four of them. Take a chance and have fun with it.

Not just a venue but a lifestyle. Riddler's known for card counting and Penguin owned the Iceberg Casino. Possibly they met that way. Or if you're thinking of heists and honeymoons this #riddlebirdweek what place could be better? Let's finish with something spectacular.
