Black Lives Matter fundamentally broke these people’s brains. They couldn’t bear the idea that they might have to tell a different story about this country and thus tell a different story about themselves. They hated it, and now they are using everything they have to never feel that way again.

I don’t know how you move on from that. I don’t know how you can see how bleak things are and just keep moving with the same excitement for life as before.

At the risk of sounding dramatic, the past week has ripped my soul out of me. I feel a heavy weight of hopelessness and powerlessness at all times. I no longer trust other people, I no longer believe that most people are “good,” and I now see just how many people actually hate me and people like me.
