What I do wonder is if a seizure is really an aggressive solution to this...but maritime law tends to be hard-core.

I know exactly nothing about admiralty law I'm just going based off my circumstantial knowledge from my Political Science undergrad TBH.

I'd ask where an Admiralty Law expert is when you need one, but I know where one is lol.

I am familiar enough with maritime law to be pretty sure that flying a foreign nation's flag falsely is very illegal. What is bizarre is less the situation maybe, but Trump trying to brag about it. It's not an example of some policy victory but upholding international trade regulations.

So apparently the US seized a tanker, but the reason for the seizure might have been above-board based on maritime law.

Damn it I knew I should have taken that course on Admiralty law. I know the Professor. He's this wacky old guy who would love to talk about this.

If nothing else, I think As of right encourages towns that are not hostile to development to figure out how to get their butts in gear about ADU's. A lot of good development practices just seem to go ignored because the town council doesn't know they exist.

...Now we just need to convince the state having a mandatory 'as of right' for ADU's with an 'opt-out' clause is irrational. I'm so tired of needing to accomodate towns that want the rest of us to solve the problem while they reap in benefits from the state.

Allowed by right absolutely has mattered. Connecticut passed ADU legislation some years back, and I can tell you from first hand experience that the towns have figured out how to permit it and it's chugging along.

I'll be honest I've always been confused about the beef with strongtowns because I didn't know they had this problem. I would encounter YIMBYs complain about Strong Towns and be like 'uh...aren't Strong Towns also YIMBYs?' I think they are how I encountered the movement. I see the issue now.

Times New Roman was once default but Calibri is a more modern, arguably better alternative. Personally I like TNR but this stupidity makes me want to use Calibri in my professional career out of spite.

I've used multiple fonts in Law School, I know many Law students and Lawyers who use different fonts, and I've been taught in Law school both are professional, but some firms might have their own preferences. It's not a binary choice, where one is professional and the other not.

Who exactly do people who idolize guys like this, think they'll impress? It sure as hell isn't women. It isn't their elders. It isn't kids. The only people who care are guys like them that fell for the same lie.

I find older Uncles or my Grandfathers to be models for masculinity. Guys who show their strength by how they care for others and handle difficult situations with grace. People who are humble and intellectually curious. It's sad what passes as impressive these days.

Most of us will never qualify as 'experts' in science or maths, but we can all be wise and philosophical. But we've prized intellectual stubborness and ignorance. Refusing to listen to people who know a subject better than you do and not admitting when you're wrong is somehow seen as 'brave'.

I feel like many Americans subconsciously act that to be rational and intelligent is 'elitist'. Way too much bluster, not enough calm, tranquil earnest wisdom.

I think that we messed up as a culture not idolizing education and intelligence enough. Hell, we like charismatic loud mouths more than quiet, but earnest people as well. There are good male role models in sports, Dave Portnoy isn't it.

I think the only type of cookie cutters I hate is the levittown variety with horrible transit, sprawl, and bland landscaping. A building like this might be copy + paste but it looks appealing and can be built around transit access.
