Timothy Snyder:By resisting,Ukrainians held back a wider war in Europe

Maybe most importantly, they've given us an example of courage

A better question to ask on the 4yr anniversary of this terrible war is,what more could we be doing to help the Ukrainians win this war?- @timothysnyder.bsky.social

No, if anything it could be considered a nod to Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. But the story came from Harlan bugging me for four years, "How come you always focus on just the officers? What about the people working down below, just doing their jobs, what do they think? C'mon, man!"

@straczynski.bsky.social Was S05E04 of B5 "A View from the Gallery" influenced by "Pulp Fiction" in any way? Mack and Bo kind of reminded me of Jules and Vincent a little bit. Two guys discussing ordinary stuff while larger than life things keep happening around them.

Can we ever know the shape of the universe? The shape of the cosmos depends on a balance of two competing forces: the pull of gravity and the expansion driven by dark energy. Columnist Leah Crane explores what observations tell us about how much universe is out there and whether it’s shaped like a sheet, a saddle or something else entirely

I thought of this a few days ago and forgot to post: the Hebrew word for trans woman (Χ˜Χ¨Χ Χ‘Χ™Χͺ) sounds roughly like β€œtransit,” which feels like it opens up a whole new bilingual field of β€œtrans people love trains” jokes

European Parliament Votes Overwhelmingly For "The Full Recognition Of Trans Women As Women" The resolution, though nonbinding, is a significant shot at those who seek to erode transgender rights on the continent.

In incredible news, the European Parliament has voted overwhelmingly for "The Full Recognition Of Trans Women As Women."

Even the center-right European People's Party voted for the declaration.

It will form a foundation for their position at the UN Commission on the Status of Women.

Our latest.

I just finished "Inventing the Renaissance" by @adapalmer.bsky.social and I really love this book. It's erudite and wise, but also geeky, welcoming, funny & sooo playful. I love how it's packed with the coolest memorable details ever, but also conveys something vital & optimistic on the large scale.

Russia continues to answer diplomacy with missiles.
We are determined to make that choice painfully expensive.

Today, we present our 20th sanctions package.

Sanctions severely hurt Russia’s economy.
And every sanction chips away at its capacity for war. (1/9)
