Also I know my posts about this game have been neutral-to-positive observations of specific elements, but I am just holding back my holistic appraisals until after I'm done.

The Final Take has been fomenting for a few hours, though.

I've rarely had that happen bc I would routinely go back to each zone after getting a new ability and check my markers for anything remaining.

I'm still not done with Prime 4 (nearing the end!) but just checking in to say that you can discover and complete some objectives before you're ever prompted to, just by exploring a lot btwn zones (bc that's what I did). Which is expected in Metroid ofc, but tbh the game's structure made me wonder.

This is the second-best piece of video game news this year (just behind confirmation FFXI will be getting new zones)

I said it in my Wizardry retrospective, but TotFL and Wiz8 both launched in 2001 and imo TotFL clears Wiz8 (Wiz8 still rules, tho, and was directed by the GOAT Brenda Romero. I'm just a mark for grid-based DRPGs over free-roam blobbers).

I second this! Forsaken Land is a top 3 Wizardry imo. Its dungeon designs are very cool, and unlike most other DRPGs, they're fully modeled environments, which is neat. Battle pacing can be slower than I prefer from DRPGs, but not bad.

Also, Terada's art is second only to Sumei's imo.
