We are doing R&D on the topic of subsurface- and geomicrobiology at the NORCE labs in Bergen, Norway. Our focus is how microbes affect natural and engineered subsurface systems like reservoirs, aquifers, salt caverns, wells and other.

Today was the Biosirkel Forum meeting in Stavanger. It was exciting to see how the region is developing towards a circular economy! Nicole presented work about the influence of fish sludge on biogas production and how this can help to reduce waste streams.

Finally, our paper on the microbiological investigations of a salt cavern has been published!
We did some sequencing and long-term incubations of salt cavern brine and found an amazing diversity and many unknown microbial types. A unique microbial world! 😊 dx.doi.org/10.1111/1758...
