FACT: Michigan’s proposed 5 percent high-income surcharge would raise about $1.7 billion a year for public education while also improving the fairness of the state’s regressive tax system.

FACT: Less than 12% of pass-through owners will pay this tax. Despite the small number, this group collects nearly 80% of all income generated by pass-through businesses.

FACT: A 5% tax that will impact a small, yet very wealthy group of taxpayers. Just 1% of filers will see an increase.

FACT: 99.5% of Michiganders will not see a tax change from the Invest in MI Kids proposal.
