All that to say... fuck the American health care system, lobbyists, insurance companies, and pharmacy benefits managers... and the government who refuses to put its citizens over profits and bribery.
America is a joke.

Losing days, weeks, months, years of my life to pain + wishing for death.
Losing days with my kids who knew the protocol. No lights, a quiet movie, snacks that don't have strong smells, + minimal noise.
Losing days + money for ER, doctor, + specialists visits for ineffective meds and gaslighting.

Migraines that have had me begging a God I don't believe in for death. Begging my husband/mother to kill me. Hitting myself so hard in the head it left bruises. Taking OTC meds with the mindset that either the migraine would go away or I would die of an overdose. Either of which I was okay with.

A medication that prevented migraines that were off pain scale. Migraines that causes mutism, nausea, vomiting, auras, and seizure-like convulsions. Migraines that would have be banging my head into walls because it hurt less. That have me floating in a bath tub contemplating unaliving myself.

A medication that took me from almost daily headaches and 3-7 debilitating migraines per month down to just few minor headaches and 1-2 migraines per month.

My curse is not that I have struggled with a debilitating migraine disorder for 2 decades... No, no. My curse is that I live in America. Where my insurance/PBM company, who I pay money to for coverage, can deny a medication that is prescribed by my neurologist and works.

She quotes a psychologist(?) who is anti-patriarchal/pro-feminist along with his wife. He speaks about the shock he experienced in regards to the invasiveness of patriarchal society. This was in reference to parenting his own son(s?).
