Looks like Cando FM's systems are still goosed, so no new show from me on there, this evening.
However, I will pop this evening's show up on Mixcloud in the morning and the put the link on here.
OK, the Gorton and Denton by-election, I have some thoughts!
Let's take a look at some of the FACTS and burst a few of the more ridiculous takes doing the rounds
But first up, can we acknowledge just what bad losers Reform are?!🤣
Right, let's get started...

Yep, it was hard work! But also interesting.
I remember being at a Simple Minds concert and asking complete strangers if they’d worked out the second line of ‘The American’ 😂
(But a bit later on, I found a copy of ‘Sister Feelings Call’ with a lyric sheet at a record fair. I was delighted!)
Thanks!
Ha! I can see how that would happen. It was bad enough relying on the music papers and Kid Jensen (Radio 1 DJ) for all my musical knowledge. It was like doing a jigsaw without seeing the whole picture: "Wait! New Order used to be Joy Division!?!"
It’s a banger, isn’t it? I love a cover that reveals something different about the original.
And yes, pretty much the same here.
Name a cover that you love more than the original. (Although I do love the original, as well.)

I did indeed let him entertain me.

In memory of Éliane Radigue the makers of this documentary have made it free to view online. What a lovely gesture

Be very proud and celebrate!
(And rest your feet ☺️)
A different scale entirely but I was reminded of this (perhaps not surprisingly)

‘Pulse’ was also great (I’m a Reich fan), and then the main event, Greenwood’s ‘Violin Concerto’, was extraordinary. Fantastic use of the orchestra; in places it was like an enormous effects pedal.

The performance of Greenwood’s ‘Water’ was incredible.
(Very slightly marred by my possibly irrational irritation that only he wasn’t dressed in concert blacks.)
Main event after the interval, of course, but also Steve Reich’s ‘Pulse’ 🤌
How do you think it’s gone, today?
