The European Parliament rejected the request by Renew, the Greens and S&D to use an urgent procedure on the 2040 #climate target. Seems that they didn't counvinced the EPP not to vote with PfE, ESN and ECR

The request for an urgent procedure has been withdrawn. The Greens, the socialists (S&D) and Renew who would like to overpass the PfE rapporteurship. They are discussing on how to proceed and try to get EPP on board

At the European Parliament, the group Patriots for Europe (PfE) got the rapporteurship of the #2040 climate target according to two sources. Later today the MEPs will vote on a request by the Greens for an urgent procedure

The topic is not on the EUCO agenda but "the aim is for the point [dinner] on competitiveness to enable discussion on how to achieve the 2030 and 2050 [climate] targets", Elysée said.
