Indie author, retired journalist, lucky husband, proud father, Reds & Spurs fan, rocker, Florida man, lover of both fiction and facts, knower of the difference, unindicted co-conspirator. My latest great American novel: THE MURDER PLAGUE, on Amazon.

16.10.2025 20:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Among all the free nations' peoples, American Republicans are becoming increasingly isolated in their world view.
15.10.2025 16:27 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Now the Bills go down too. So, the top teams in the NFL this season appear to be the Colts and Bucs, followed by the Steelers? Top execs at ESPN are at risk of drinking problems.

Repeating the only advice I ever give other writers: Please, REGISTER YOUR COPYRIGHT as soon as your manuscript is done, before publication.
Via Dave Chesson @Kindlepreneur, the landmark, $1.5B Anthropic AI piracy lawsuit settlement says ONLY authors holding registered copyrights may collect.
My latest blog post:
I've compiled a list of online literary journals that publish short stories and or poetry, plus other creative content, with free and open access to readers.
What sorts of opportunities do these sites offer to indie authors?
NY-based sportswriters are such homers. The Jetsβ and Giantsβ stenches are surprises. The Knicks are NBA elite who just havenβt won yet. The Metsβ collapse is inexplicable. The Yankeesβ loss is just bad luck. (Or, these teams simply werenβt as good as they thought.)
09.10.2025 11:59 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0My first purchase to commemorate Banned Books Week: "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho, purchased from The Writers' Block Bookstore in Winter Park, Fla.
Commemorate Banned Books Week. Go to a bookstore. Ask them about banned books. Buy one. Post on social media.
My latest blog post, revisiting banned books and the need for people to buy them.
03.10.2025 16:44 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Someone distributed my email address to Trump and Musk propaganda machines & I have been inundated with reports that promote everything they say or do as genius. I unsubscribe, but itβs whack-a-mole. If millions of people are getting these reports, itβs easier to understand why MAGAs believe.
01.10.2025 22:56 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I sense a great disturbance in the force that is Americaβs collected leadership of career military officers, who each spent lifetimes leading troops & defending the country & Constitution they love, only to hear a TV ranter tell them that if they donβt like what is going on now, they should resign.
30.09.2025 23:51 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0How about buying banned books?
Go into your local bookstore, ask them if they have any banned books. (A lot of stores proudly put together displays of them.) Pick one out. Buy it. Take a selfie with your prized new contraband and post it on social media.
Make this Buy Banned Books Week.
And not for myself or for my careerβbut for the nation and the Constitution to which I vowed to protect and served a career doing so.

What we don't get re: mental illness:
It's not an acute problem. You can't cure it with short-term treatment & then forget it.
Mental illness is chronic. It must be managed lifelong.
American health care doesn't encourage, support or follow that course well.
Unmanaged episodes can be dangerous.
I just filed my claim re the class-action suit settlement over Anthropic PBC pirating my books for its AI project.
You can check @theatlantic.com database to see if you were pirated: www.theatlantic.com/technology/a...
If so, I urge you to also file a claim.

The 2030s silicon valleys will emerge where brainpower & research investment are welcomed, valued, and supported now. With MAGA all but outlawing science & education federally and in states like Florida, tech expertise and power will concentrate even more in such blue states.
04.09.2025 19:59 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0With Trump's dictate to move the U.S. Space Command HQ to Alabama (of course it's partisan, these things always are,) some Florida leaders' silly "What About Us?" whining reemerges.
Look: Florida's Patrick SFB proposal was disqualifying. The USSC HQ needs to be somewhere not underwater in 50 years.

How's that social media public journalists thing working?
