🧵It’s official-@HUDgov is slashing overall permanent housing funds by roughly 2/3 in its main #homelessness solutions program–the Continuum of Care(CoC). If Congress doesn’t undo this harmful change, over 170K formerly unhoused people will lose housing assistance next year.

Nearly 300 IL organizations are calling on HUD to avoid a harmful gap in homelessness funding. Last night, HUD announced a rushed grant competition & major program changes.

Our ask: Renew existing grants. Don’t push people back into homelessness.

IL's 19 Continuum of Care networks support 21K+ people with permanent supportive housing and provide 27K+ emergency and transitional beds in our state.

We are urging decision makers to reverse course and honor existing grant processes.

Trump Administration Expected to Drastically Cut Housing Grants

Any day now, we expect HUD to implement harmful changes to their grant-making that will hamstring the 19 networks in IL that provide the foundation for local efforts to end homelessness.

Bill to regulate Illinois homeowners' insurance rates fails on final day of veto session A bill that failed would have given state insurance regulators authority to review and approve rates charged for homeowners' insurance in Illinois.

Illinois has 14,197 permanent supportive housing units that have ended homelessness for the people who live in them. 60% of these homes (8,543) rely on federal funding from the Continuum of Care Program that the is facing budget cuts and drastically bad policy changes.
